Summary: Entertaining with an interesting multiplayer
Comment: If you played the first Bioshock then the game play is nearly identical. One trigger controls plasmids, the other controls your weapon. It's a visually stunning game, and played with surround sound it's definitely a noteworthy experience. The multiplayer takes a little devotion though. If you've read the game magazine reviews there's nothing new here. Limited to two plasmids and weapons per load-out is very restricting, but makes for some strategic choices that will undoubtedly leave some frustrated. Definitely for mature players as you'll be spending most of your time lighting Splicers on fire, then filling them with bullet holes, or using a giant drill to eviscerate them.
Aside from the violence it is a well made game any gamer will enjoy. The online makes it replay worthy, but we'll have to see what kind of DLC is coming down the pipeline.

Summary: Underwater Adventure that seems a little too familiar
Comment: First off, I would like to say that Bioshock 2 is a great game. It brings lots of new elements to the gameplay with plenty of variety.
The new style of gameplay is great and gives the series a breath of fresh air. The dual wielding makes this game much more interesting and faster paced. The graphics are very familiar. Not saying that it's a bad thing, but it just feels too much like the first game. The atmosphere is still top notch, and no other game can compete.
The story was just okay. It wasn't as interesting as the first game. To be completely honest the story is exactly like the first game. Too much of the same is never a good thing. It just didn't have that "wow" factor this time around.
What makes this game a full purchase is the multiplayer mode. The online is like most games but there are many differences too. Bioshock 2 has a very original style of multiplayer gameplay. It's really fun because it's not serious like many other games out there. It's great to sit back and just play for fun and not be so competitive.
I give this game a 8/10. What keeps me from giving this game a 9 is that the story is not very interesting. It's much too similar to the first game. It is still a must buy though, especially if you loved the first one.

Comment: If you loved the first Bioshock then you will also enjoy this one. Although rapture hasnt changed much, there are some new parts that you get to explore and its nice to just get to be back in rapture wielding plasmids and shooting deranged splicers. It is also nice that they added on some extra tasks to make the game less tedious and the hacking is much better now than it was in the first.

Summary: Still a fun game with many improvements.
Comment: I just finished playing Bioshock 2 on my PS3 after playing for 10 straight hours (the game is about 12 hours total). Needlessly to say, the game is fun and addictive (but still very creepy). It has a better shooter action and more challenging opponents than the original. If you liked Bioshock 1, you will not be disappointed. Although the play action of this game surpasses the Bioshock 1, the storyline wasn't as enthralling. And that's too bad since lack of captivating story makes this game just an another great shooter game. The philosophies of the characters, however, are deeper. This game makes you think of your own consciousness and what it means to be alive and choose. Just like the original, you must make several moral decision that determines the outcome of the game.
Here are the significant differences between Bioshock 1 and 2:
1)You get to use both plasmids and weapons at the same time (not quite simultaneously)
2)The weapons are far more powerful than in Bioshock 1.
3)You are not as invincible as Big Daddy as you were in Bioshock 1.
4)You only get to store maximum of 6 First Aids and Eve Hypos.
5)The opponents are far tougher and move much quicker.
6)There are more twists but they are more obvious than in Bioshock 1.
7)There are fewer puzzles than in Bioshock 1
Overall, I was entertained. But I can't say I was as emotionally into this game as I was in the first one, and that emotional content and captivation made the first Bioshock one of the greatest games of all time. I can't quite put this game ahead of the original, but this is still a good game.
